Outspoke

Summary: Outspoke is dedicated to giving users in the cannabis industry insight into their supply chains using CRM’s, and data analytics using the METRC track and trace technology.

Roles and responsibilities: UX Research and UX/UI Design

Problem: Cannabis industry leaders have limited insight into their supply chains, inventory, and client relationship management.

Solution: Outspoke provides the user with easy access to information regarding their product, revenue, commissions, FIFO, client management, and possible prospects.

Competitive Analysis:

When comparing our competitors, it was important to plan out the design for all business types, while making sure we offer what the others cannot. Companies like Distru and PistilData are exclusive to distributors and suppliers. BDSA is for all business types, but doesn’t check every box.

User Personas:

After spending time with, and interviewing seasoned cannabis industry professionals, I gained some great insight into who will be using our product. I found that there is a large range of users to cater to. Retailers, sales reps, distributors, cultivators, and manufacturers were all taken into account. Sarah and Greg are two great representations of industry professionals. Both are very busy running a business, maintaining their product, and fostering business relationships with outdated and inefficient technology.

User Flows:

I created multiple user flows to aid the development team with designs and to map out the user’s journey. The user flow above demonstrates how to quickly and easily create a new connection as a sales rep. To make an efficient, hassle-free connection, and sign up process, we implemented a QR code that acts as a business card. Scanning the QR code quickly and easily creates a connection. The connection automates, eases, and adds visibility to client relationship and product management.

Version 1:

The first version of this product had a highly functioning back end with a basic layout. This version served to get all of the functioning components into a layout. A lot of effort was put into creating this functioning platform, however, the UX needed a revamp.

Version 2:

After a complete redesign and rebrand of the platform it was put into mobile with responsive design. This version was much more appealing and easy to navigate than the previous version. This version resembles what the platform currently looks like.

Conclusion:

Next steps:

There are still some parts of the platform in need of a redesign before being finished. Once the product is on the market, all that is left is customer support and getting more businesses to adopt the platform.

 Final thoughts:

Outspoke was one of the hardest challenges in my user experience career. There were many angles and perspectives that needed to be voiced in such a robust platform. I think Outspoke is truly a fantastic product that is going to revolutionize the cannabis industry.
